Guest Lecture about Hospital Organization

Marc Detzler is the Director of Nursing at the Diakonie Klinikum Neunkirchen and the Diakonie Kliniken Fliedner Neunkirchen, and he provided us with fascinating insights. The presentation focused on fundamental questions: Who decides which services a hospital offers? What role do policymakers and citizens play in these processes? These and other aspects were examined in a nuanced and practical manner.
The case study on the shortage of skilled workers was particularly compelling.
The discussion focused on how hospitals can respond when there are not enough nursing staff available, and what consequences this has for patient care. In addition, there were lively discussions about the increasing competitive pressure in the healthcare sector, as well as the values that play a role in this context and influence decision-making.
The lecture was a resounding success and provided great value to the master’s students, who are exploring work in the healthcare sector within spatiotemporal contexts in their seminar.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Marc Detzler for this fantastic lecture!
