Congratulations to Carlina Pfeil on winning the Young Scientist Award!

Bonn/Fulda, October 1, 2024 - The winners of the “dgh-Nachwuchspreis 2024” have been announced: Anika Gescher and Carlina Pfeil have been honored by the German Society for Home Economics and the Helga Brenn Foundation for their excellent scientific work and outstanding commitment to home economics and household sciences.

One bachelor's thesis and one master's thesis were honored. The award ceremony took place as part of the “dgh Annual Conference 2024”, which was held from September 25 to 27, 2024 under the motto “Lifelong Learning Home Economics - Key Competencies for the Future” at the University of Fulda.

Covid pandemic, Ukraine war, energy shortages, climate change - the relevance of lifelong learning and home economics education for a sustainable, functioning society is becoming increasingly clear in times of upheaval.
“The German Society for Home Economics has always attached particular importance to the promotion of excellent young professionals from science and practice. The 'dgh Young Talent Award' is a special recognition of their achievements and a further incentive, especially for young professionals,” said Prof. Dr. Christine Küster, Fulda University of Applied Sciences, during the award ceremony.

The “dgh-Nachwuchspreis” has been awarded for the past six years for outstanding academic theses at colleges and universities and is nominated by the supervising university professors, together with an appropriate justification. The theses are assessed by two reviewers from other colleges or universities and by the dgh Executive Board.

Carlina Pfeil's Master's thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Maximiliane Wilkesmann and Dr. Kim Kusserow.
